Why We Specialize in Relapse Treatment

The facts below motivate us to make Mayflower Center's Relapse Recovery Program™ the best Relapse Treatment Program for adult men in the country.

Fact: In 2002, 22 million Americans had substance dependence or abuse (SAMHSA, 2002).

Fact: Approximately 3,500,000 of them received some kind of treatment (SAMHSA, 2002).

Fact: At least 1,750,000 relapsed. Most will keep relapsing !! (SAMHSA, 2002).

Fact: Of those admitted to addiction treatment, 60% already have one or more prior treatment admissions; 24% have three or more prior admissions (SAMHSA, 2001).

Fact: The majority of people completing addiction treatment will relapse in the year following treatment (Wilbourne & Miller, 2003), 80% of whom relapse within 90 days of discharge (Hubbard, Flynn, Craddock, & Fletcher, 2001).

Fact: Between 25% and 30% of clients who complete addiction treatment will be re-admitted to treatment within one year, 50% within 2 - 5 years (Hubbard, Marsden, Rachal, Harwood, Flynn, Craddock, & Fletcher, 2001).

Mayflower Center founded in 2005, is a unique treatment center dedicated to the treatment of adult men who have either, been unable to stay sober and achieve recovery in their lives, or who are a high risk for relapse. High risk would be defined by any one of the following criteria.

• Completed primary treatment but the below criteria apply.
• No real successes prior to treatment.
• Young and lacking direction.
• No sense of self.
• No credible place to go after treatment with realistic support.
• A strong dependence upon others.
• An uncertainty of how to live sober and no understanding of how this would look.
• A dual diagnosis that is not stabilized nor appropriately managed by the individual.
• A family life or career that is compromised and unsettled from the affects of addiction.

Mayflower Center’s Relapse Recovery Program™ (RRP) is an open-ended treatment program with a minimum stay of 16 weeks. If an individual has completed at least 28 days of treatment elsewhere, then the minimum length of stay may be 12 weeks. Our individualized approach and long length of stay allows the multidisciplinary team to treat all issues in a manner that produces the best outcome. Our multi disciplinary team includes, M.D.'s, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Primary Therapists (MFT’s), Nurses, family therapists and 12-step CD counselors.

Throughout their stay clients are assigned a Primary Therapist (MFT). They are regularly assessed to insure their needs are assessed.

Mayflower Center’s Next Step Extended Care is available to clients who have completed our Relapse Recovery Program™. Lengths of stay in extended care are a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months.
